This weeks real wedding feature is of Jack and Amy, who wed at the beautiful Upton Barns and Walled Garden in late summer 2023. Think statement florals, sage green hues and contemporary, yet classic styling throughout - Jack and Amy really had it all covered.

Let’s start with your story - how did you both meet and share your proposal story with us!

Jack and I first met when we were just 12, and then one of my bridesmaids got us together when we were 20. We have been together on and off for 12 years but we always came back to each other, finally getting back together and staying together after 6 years and having 2 beautiful little boys, Jack proposed at Boringdon Hall. He booked a beautiful suite and proposed in our room, I thought he was going to pass out he was no nervous!

What was your wedding day vision? Did you have a particular style you were hoping to achieve?

I’ve had a Pinterest wedding board since I can remember and my board completely came to life, mainly because of all floral. I wanted a timeless and classic look. Lots of greenery with white florals. Something I knew I wouldn’t look back in 20 years and it think why on earth did I pick that!

Tell us what was the most memorable part of your wedding day?

My favourite part of the day was walking into the wedding breakfast room alone, before any of the guests had seen it and looking at all the hard work we and the suppliers had put into the day come to life and how beautiful it looked. I was overwhelmed with emotion at how perfect it all was. I recommend doing this so you can take it all in and see the room before all the guests as you don’t get a true feel for it when full of people.

Were there any wedding suppliers that you particularly loved working with?

Obviously All Floral - Laura just listened to every detail and knew exactly what would work and was a dream to work with. Our florist Floral Art Devon who were the loveliest people and provided the most beautiful florals. Together with All Floral it was a dream team. My hair stylist Emily (E Hair Designs) just made my morning so special, she made me calm and made us all look so beautiful! She stayed and helped me with my dress and just went above being just a hair stylist. And our photographer Rachael J Photography who captured the most amazing candid photos, I will cherish them forever.

What would be your top tip to other couples who are currently planning their wedding day?

Don’t feel like you have to have certain things at your wedding because everyone else does. Think outside the box, and do exactly what you want to do. And when thinking of budget and what to spend on, think of the what you remember at weddings, and is it important. If you don’t remember what someone else had, was it important enough, if you want something make it stand out. Sometimes the little details cost a lot and don’t get recognised. Spend your money on bigger detail or save it!
